The Italian LL is in Puglia. This is a ‘less developed’ region. Despite recent economic developments such as innovation in the green economy, agri-tech and aerospace, the unemployment rate remains higher than the national average, resulting in a brain drain of many young people. A high percentage of market-oriented agricultural enterprises in the region are led by women (31%). To establish and deal with their socio-ecological innovation needs, the LL will work with farm women ecological innovators operating in regional well-established agriculture value chains (wine, olive oil and olives, fruit, wheat, and vegetables) and/or in multi-functional farms providing recreational, educational services to local and foreign tourists, schools and citizens and social innovation solutions to local communities.
